Furniture & Selections for the New House

If you’ve been following along on IG, then you know we’ve been having to make a lot of decisions for the new house recently. Since we’re building new, we’ve been working with an interior designer (Jenny Hollander) to select finishes, paint colors, hardware, and furniture which has been a LOT! Don’t get me wrong, we’re having so much fun and this whole process has been very exciting for us, but we’re normally pretty indecisive, so it’s forced Cort and me to make up our minds about things. Today I wanted to share some of the furniture and other selections we’ve made so far. It’s been so helpful to have a designer throughout this process!! We kept things pretty neutral, and we love how everything is coming together so far… so keep scrolling for a peek at what the new house will look like. PS- these are all items that we’ve already ordered for the new house or will be reusing from our current house!

Sitting Room

For the sitting room, we selected this oval coffee table which we’re pairing with these chairs that we already have from Target. We also got this chandelier in brass to match the legs of the coffee table. Rugs are the hardest part, but I love the one Jenny found below.

Kitchen

For the kitchen, we decided on gold hardware. You can actually find these handles and this faucet that we’re using from Amazon! For our island, we got these barstools - love that they have a back so they’re more comfortable. For the dining room, we decided to upgrade our dining chairs because we just fell in love with these ones from McGee & Co. We’re reusing our current dining table!

Office

Since Cort and I both work from home, we’re super excited to finally have an office space! Our office is closed off, but still right off the entry way of the home, so we wanted it to go with the vibe of the rest of the home. I think Cort will mainly work from this space, so we wanted it to have a masculine feel. Eventually I’ll probably have my own office space upstairs which will have a different vibe. We’ve never done a dark room so I’m a little nervous (but very excited) for this bold Urbane Bronze wall color.

It’s surprisingly hard to find office chairs that look nice but also functional and comfortable, but we found this chair which checked all the boxes. I thought it went perfectly with this minimal desk and this mid-century console table which will be perfect for storage. We’ll be reusing our IKEA Malsjo cabinets that you all have seen a bunch in our current home!

Living Room

We decided to splurge on a new sofa since it’s one of the biggest furniture pieces in the home and one that we spend a lot of time on! We wanted one that would last and look nice while still being comfy - so the one we chose is from Restoration Hardware. We actually got 2 of these matching sofas instead of getting a sectional. We got it in the Chalk performance fabric and went for the luxe depth option so it would be extra deep and comfy. We also got this coffee table and these chairs to finish off the space. For extra seating, we got these leather ottomans, and how chic is this accent table?!

Primary Bedroom

For our primary bedroom, we landed on this bed because it’s neutral and timeless. We really loved this bench which will go at the end of the bed, and decided on these nightstands. As an accent, we’re planning on putting this vase on top of this pedestal table - I’m envisioning pampas grass or olive branches in it.

Alright guys that’s what we’ve got so far! For our first phase, we decided to focus on our main rooms that we’ll be in the most. For our basement, guest bedroom, and my office space upstairs, we’ll be recycling furniture from our current home and just working on those rooms down the road! I’m super excited about what we have planned so far… now let’s just hope everything gets here in time! HA ;)
